The next step after creating a new project is adding a 3D model to the scene. To get started, download this file.
In the Spatial Editor:
Note: Do not worry if the chosen scale is wrong. This can be changed later in the model settings. If the pins added to the workflow seem to be too big or too small, then the scale needs to be adjusted accordingly.
To change the orientation of the model:
To rotate the 3D Scene:
Now that the model is correctly displayed in Spatial Editor, it is time to add information to the workflow. To set information about where the model will be later displayed in the Spatial Workplace app, a Spatial Reference must be added to the workflow. There are three types of reference:
Note: For more information, please see the page about spatial references.
In this tutorial, we will use the Model Placement, where we find a plane surface and a position for the model in the environment.
⇒ The Model Placement is added to the 3D Scene, where it is visible as a small green circle.
The Gizmos will allow movements only along the green and red axes, and rotation around the blue axes. This restriction is meant to keep the Model Placement reference on the same plane.
The green arrow symbolizes the direction view of the user. The user can choose which models are positioned according to this reference in the menu on the right.
4. Click on the Model Placement to see the properties of the Model Placement, which will be shown on the right side of the Spatial Editor.
5. Click on Add to add the model as a Placement.
6. Click on Add.
7. Click on Model.
8. Click on Enter.
⇒ The model will be added to Model Placement and shows the name of the Model which is added in Placement Properties.
Note: By default, all models are not visible when a template or a task is running in Spatial Workplace. Even though they are visible in the 3D Scene of the Editor.
And for Spatial Workplace app, a Scene State node is needed to display a model or a part at a specific point of the Workflow. In the next step, we will add a Scene State node to the Workflow.
