Prediction: AI at the edge will enable hyper-personalized, preventative solutions.

2025 will mark a significant shift from reactive to preventative AI solutions in remote support, driven by the convergence of edge computing and language models. By bringing AI capabilities directly to edge devices for remote support, organizations will be able to process and analyze in-session data in real-time, creating highly contextual and personalized experiences. Current remote connectivity solutions are largely reactive, addressing problems after they occur. However, the combination of edge AI and in-session data analysis will enable a more sophisticated approach.

Advice: Organizations should begin mapping their in-session data opportunities and developing strategies for edge AI deployment. Success will require understanding the unique contexts of different users and use cases, as well as investing in edge computing infrastructure that can support AI workloads. Companies should focus on building preventative capabilities that leverage real-time insights while maintaining user privacy through local processing.

Prediction: Business AI will evolve from text-only to visual experiences.

While current AI business applications primarily focus on text-based output, 2025 will see a dramatic shift toward rich, visual AI experiences. Instead of receiving text-based instructions or reports, users will interact with AI through dynamic visual content, including real-time video, interactive demonstrations, and visual problem-solving guides. This evolution will fundamentally change how information is communicated and consumed in business settings.

We’re already seeing early indicators of this shift, with AI art gaining prominence and selling for more than a million dollars, for example. However, the real transformation will come as these capabilities are applied to business contexts, such as AI generating 30-second tutorial videos for technical support or creating visual simulations for training.

Advice: Organizations should begin preparing for this visual AI revolution by identifying areas where visual communication could enhance current text-based processes. Companies should invest in tools and platforms that support visual AI generation while developing guidelines for effective visual content creation.

Prediction: Quantum computing awareness goes mainstream.

In 2025 we’ll see an uptick in mainstream awareness of quantum computing and companies will start taking the looming post-quantum world more seriously. As the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) in the U.S. is already certifying post-quantum encryption methods for various applications, these standards will be adopted throughout the industry and companies will begin planning for how they’ll need to adapt their products. While tech giants have long been planning – including Apple with the announcement of iMessage with PQ3, a post-quantum cryptographic protocol for secure messaging in 2024 – smaller tech companies will now follow suit.

While we’re still a minimum of five years away from “Q Day” – when quantum computers finally break encryption algorithms – that could change quickly. Consider ChatGPT and the drastic changes we’ve seen in AI over the past two years, very few predicted this mass adoption would happen as quickly as it did, and now you’d be hard-pressed to find a product or service that doesn’t incorporate it.

Advice: As quantum computing advances, organizations must prepare for its profound impact on remote data security. Future quantum computers will likely be able to crack the encryption systems we rely on today, rendering many of today’s security measures obsolete. The first step is to identify encryption use across critical remote access points – from VPNs to employee logins – and plan the transition to post-quantum cryptographic standards. While they can be threatening, quantum technologies also present opportunities to enhance remote connectivity.

Prediction: Regulation will be priority #1 for most CISOs.

2025 will be a year of tremendous regulatory change that will require the utmost attention of CISOs navigating in an ever-evolving geo-political environment.

In the U.S., a potential focus on de-regulation by the incoming administration will be something that impacts businesses globally, especially regarding standards set by organizations like the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), which issued NIST 2.0 in 2024, guidelines for managing risks in all industries of any size, including government and academia. CISOs will also get more protective about how they see cybersecurity in regard to national security, especially as we see China ramping up its regulatory frameworks, making it more difficult for Western companies to comply.

In Europe, CISOs will also be focused on the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), which banks, credit institutions, investment firms, and other financial entities must comply with, beginning Jan. 17, 2025, as well as the broader Network and Information Security Directive (NIS-2), which impacts a wide range of EU businesses.

Advice: CISOs are wise to think globally when it comes to cyber regulations, and this is a must for enterprises with customers located around the world. By dedicating resources to stay abreast of the latest regulatory changes – which could be plentiful in 2025 – CISOs will be able to anticipate changes to their organization’s security policy before it becomes a concern with a customer or prospect.

Prediction: Frontline workers will drive enterprise technology adoption.

In 2025, there will be a fundamental shift in enterprise technology deployment, as organizations recognize the critical value of gathering perspectives from frontline workers directly. Rather than following traditional top-down technology mandates, organizations will prioritize the insights and preferences of workers on the ground. This revolution in technology adoption will be particularly evident in manufacturing and logistics, where the practical expertise of hands-on workers will take precedence over executive assumptions.

Advice: Organizations should establish formal feedback mechanisms that elevate frontline worker voices in technology decisions. Focus on technologies that workers identify as making their jobs more enjoyable and efficient, rather than those that simply promise operational improvements on paper. This collaborative approach will result in more successful technology implementations and higher ROI through improved worker satisfaction and adoption rates.

Prediction: Logistics operations will embrace purpose-built wearable technology.

The logistics industry will move beyond traditional mobile devices to adopt purpose-built wearable solutions that better suit the needs of warehouse workers. This shift will be driven by the realization that process improvement alone, using existing mobile technology, has reached its peak benefit. Augmented reality devices will offer hands-free operation and contextual information delivery specifically tailored for warehouse environments. These solutions will range from smart glasses for pick-and-pack operations to lightweight wearables for all logistics operations.

Advice: Organizations should begin evaluating wearable platforms and software solutions that can accommodate a diverse workforce while maintaining flexibility for different use cases. Focus on solutions that prioritize worker comfort and preference, allowing for optional adoption rather than mandatory deployment.
