International Women’s Day 2024 at TeamViewer — Inspire inclusion!
This year’s International Women’s Day at TeamViewer was all about showcasing the experiences of outstanding women in leadership and technology, both within and beyond our organization. We hosted inspiring discussions featuring guests and colleagues who shared their invaluable insights and stories. Our employee- led Female Empowerment Group also provided updates on upcoming initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and empowerment.
At TeamViewer, we recognize the importance of empowering women to achieve their potential without facing additional barriers due to their gender. One way we strive to achieve this is by increasing female representation within our company and setting goals to ensure continuous improvement at all levels.
Female Representation at TeamViewer
Currently*, women make up 34% of our overall workforce, with 33.5% of them holding management positions. On our management board, 25% of the members are female, while 43% of our supervisory board comprises women. Furthermore, in our leadership training programs, 41% of the participants are women. We have set a new goal in terms of representation, aiming to achieve 35% of women in management by 2027. These figures reflect our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where women can thrive and lead. We will continue to focus on these areas to ensure progress and equal opportunities for all our employees.
Panel discussions: Voices of Women in Leadership & Tech
Our first internal session was a powerful discussion led by Sojung Lee, TeamViewer’s APAC President. The panel included Shirley Qi, President of Southeast Asia, Australia & New Zealand and Head of Nutrition and Care Asia Pacific at Evonik; Kerstin Tinter, Global Vice President and Head of the Discrete Manufacturing Industry Ecosystem at SAP SE; and Gretel Engelbrecht, TeamViewer’s Director of Marketing for EMEA. These leaders shared their journeys, highlighting the challenges and triumphs they faced in their respective fields.
In the second session, TeamViewer VP of Communications Martina Dier led a conversation featuring Renee McKenzie, Former Chief Information Officer at OpenText, along with our own Ana Fonseca, Jr. Software Engineer, and Kathryn Kobelski, Director of Solutions Delivery IT AMS. This session delved into their personal and professional experiences, offering valuable lessons and advice.
Key takeaways from the sessions
Throughout the discussions, several key themes emerged. For example, Ana Fonseca emphasized the importance of self-advocacy and clear communication.
“Surround yourself with people who believe in you and be the greatest advocate for yourself. Communicate clearly and never minimize the effort of the things you do," Ana said.
Renee McKenzie highlighted the power of sponsorship within an organization, stating, “I had people speaking about me when I wasn’t in the room. You need to find who your sponsors are in the organization, and that is so powerful.”
