On June 28, 2018, the California Consumer Protection Act of 2018 (CCPA) was signed into law and took effect on January 1, 2020.

TeamViewer is committed to CCPA compliance and data privacy.

CCPA grants California consumers robust data privacy rights and control over their personal information, including:

  • The right to know what personal information is being collected about them
  • The right to request that a business delete personal information about them
  • The right to opt out of the sale of personal information that businesses collect

This article applies to all TeamViewer users and customers based in the state of California, USA.

TeamViewer Data Privacy Commitment

TeamViewer is a global organization, and for us, it is essential that the personal information of our customers in California is handled in accordance with CCPA.

Similar to the European GDPR, the CCPA brings a degree of long-anticipated consistency to the data protection landscape.

CCPA is setting the benchmark for other states that have already or might follow suit with equivalent arrangements. CCPA embodies the well-recognized privacy principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability. CCPA also introduces a risk-based approach that enables innovation and participation in the global digital economy while respecting individual rights.

In our view, the digital economy can only flourish when you connect people, processes, information, and devices in an ethical, meaningful, and secure way. That includes creating an environment in which everyone can easily do business and know their data is safeguarded.

We are committed to helping our customers and partners by protecting and respecting personal data, no matter where it is from or where it flows.

What has TeamViewer done to be CCPA-ready?

As part of our continuous focus on information security and data privacy, we have prepared for CCPA through a managed program of activities in the following areas:

  • Policies and procedures
  • Information Governance
  • Information Security
  • Privacy by Design
  • Third-party management

We have updated our analysis of processing activities as part of our continuous review of how personal information is handled across our business operations, products, and services. Further, TeamViewer does not sell your personal information to third parties.

Our data protection governance arrangements and privacy mindset ensure that our operations are subject to continuous review to maintain alignment with CCPA.
