Goppingen/Porto, May 12, 2021: TeamViewer, a leading global provider of remote connectivity and workplace digitalization solutions, today announced the establishment of a new Research & Development (R&D) hub in Porto, Portugal, to enhance its leading engineering force in strategically important fields like Augmented Reality (AR) and Internet of Things (IoT). Through recent acquisition of the Porto-based software development agency Hapibot Studio, TeamViewer already kick-started its on-site presence with a team of around 20 highly skilled software and design engineers. The new location is expected to grow significantly over time to become a key component of TeamViewer’s global R&D organization.

The decision for Portugal as location was based on a comprehensive selection framework evaluating key growth and cultural factors including availability of top talent, educational infrastructure, regulatory framework, entrepreneurial mindset, and quality of life. TeamViewer was supported by the Portuguese government, through the support of AICEP – Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency – since the starting point and throughout the process.
